My therapy is based on a person-centered approach which is characterized by authenticity and empathy. I act as a compassionate counterpart, listening without judgement. My clients feel seen and accepted in their inner core. This experience enables them to face difficult issues that have remained unsaid for a long time. In our conversations I put an emphasis on clarity and self-responsibility and the development of emotional competencies. Therapy will help you to experience your thoughts, emotions and bodily sensations in a congruent way which will enable you to transform your behavioral patterns. Couple therapy will provide means to overcome your recurring conflicts and to experience and listen to your partner in new ways.

‘What makes people thrive?’ is one of the questions that has intrigued me my whole live. First in the political and organizational environment and later in person-to-person settings. I was born 1970 and grew up in a small village in Southern Germany. My interest in the human condition motivated me to study politics and international relations. Subsequently, as part of my Ph.D thesis, I performed research on how discourses shape our behavioral preferences and on what conditions foster sustainable behavior (as the coordinator of an European research consortium). The question of how we create sustainable relationships with others, as well as with ourselves became one of my core interests. The breakdown of my first marriage was a drastic experience that made me much more aware of my inner life and the dynamics in interpersonal relationships. I started a five-year training in person-centered therapy and since 2009 my career focuses on individual therapy, team development (especially ‘new work’) and couple therapy.

Together with my wife Anne Piotrowski
I have two children and enjoy spending much of my free time on playgrounds in Prenzlauer Berg or in our garden in Brandenburg.
