I am an integrative mental health counsellor and coach. I hope with our sessions that you learn to thrive not only survive.

I rely on three evidence-based models: cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), emotion-focused therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Interventions. I integrate from these modalities.

I also fold-in biopsychosocial model, strengths-based, trauma-informed, interpersonal theory into my approach. I an attuned to an anti-oppressive framework in my practice, i.e. issues of inclusion, equity, diversity, cross-cultural experiences, intersectionality, and power hierarchies - all inherent in the existent relations across societies. That's a whole lot of jargon for saying sources of challenges can be at times external, systematic, as opposed to being due to internal, individual causes.

Clients come to work with me on typically on the following concerns:

  • mood, anxiety, depression, panic, phobias
  • emotional regulation and experiencing
  • assertiveness, body image, self-esteem
  • attachment, relationships, and boundaries
  • education, financial, housing, employment
  • lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer experiences
  • addictions, anger issues, grief/loss
  • unemployment, immigrant/newcomer, cross-culturally challenges
  • life transition and acculturation stress
  • I run an Mindfulness Group in Zürich

Note: I do not work with couples.

Being a son of a immigrant from India to Canada, queer and Muslim, racialised and educated, and a newcomer myself, I have experienced my own challenges of life.

I have had challenges accepting my own identity, adapting to various cultural contexts, and aspiring to achieve with the label of survivor. I believe that our unresolved traumas hold the potential to deliver our most important treasures in . In our counselling relationship, we can not only learn to survive, but also develop ways to thrive for ourselves and others. "If you can't love yourself, how are you going to love someone else?" Let's work together so we can thrive together!

For over 10 years, I have supported people in the higher education and non-profit sector. I have supported students in a highly competitive education system in achieving their academic and social goals from stress to crises. I have helped the marginalised, unemployed, and vulnerable members of society into finding ways to better cope with complex situations.

I live in Zürich, Switzerland and provide counselling to English-speaking clients both in person and online.
