I am an integrative mental health counsellor and coach. I hope with our sessions that you learn to thrive rather than only surviving.

I rely on three evidence-based models: cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), emotion-focused therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions. I integrate from these modalities. I also have training in cyber-counselling.

Clients come to work with me on typically on the following concerns:

  • mood, anxiety, depression, panic, phobias
  • emotional regulation and experiencing
  • assertiveness, body image, self-esteem
  • attachment, relationships, and boundaries
  • education, financial, housing, employment
  • lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer experiences
  • addictions, anger issues, grief/loss
  • unemployment, immigrant/newcomer, cross-culturally challenges
  • life transition and acculturation stress
  • I run an Mindfulness Group in Zürich

There are many other frameworks I use, and they are simply code for saying the sources of challenges in life can be at times external, systematic. Not all challenges are sourced from the inner world. These other models are: biopsychosocial model, strengths-based, trauma-informed, interpersonal theory. In addition, I am attuned to an anti-oppressive framework in my practice, i.e. issues of inclusion, equity, diversity, cross-cultural experiences, intersectionality, and power hierarchies. These exist in relations an individual experiences in society. Please note I do not work with couples.

Being a son of an immigrant from India, I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. Being queer, Muslim, racialised and educated, and a recent newcomer myself, I have experienced my own life challenges.

I had struggles with accepting my own intersecting identities, adapting to various cultural contexts, and aspiring to survive traumatic events. I believe our unresolved traumas are potential sites where we can derive the most treasures. In our counselling relationship, we can determine ways to cope with life challenges, and to also thrive. If you can't thrive yourself, how are you going help others to thrive?

For over 10 years, I have supported people in the higher education and non-profit sector. I have supported students in a highly competitive education system in achieving or exploring their academic and social goals. I have helped the marginalised, unemployed, and vulnerable members of society into finding ways to better cope with multi-layered, and complex situations.

I live in Zürich, Switzerland and provide counselling to English-speaking clients both in person and online.
