My approach to therapy is informed not only by my training in Clinical Psychology and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy but also my passion for literature and philosophy – a blend that I feel pays tribute to the depth, meaning, and art of life. How we are in the world and the narratives of our own life stories has always evoked a sense of curiosity in me, and I believe that an exploration and understanding of the relationship we have with ourselves, with others, and with the world, contributes to a more grounded and connected experience.

I have a strong appreciation for our uniqueness as individuals, and as a result I do not feel there is one ‘correct’ form of intervention, but rather that the intervention will be guided by what you are specifically needing. I believe that the relationship that develops between patient and therapist is a strong agent for change. Consequently, I feel the therapeutic process is collaborative and a journey we embark on together where in a non-judgmental and respectful environment we can gain greater understanding.

I was born in Cape Town, South Africa, a country that is now defined by its diversity as well as its ability to change. Growing up and breathing in the culture of change allowed me to witness and experience first hand the challenges, bravery, pain, joy, and meaningful growth that transition and change can bring. It is this curiosity, respect for our uniqueness as individuals, and appreciation for self-reflection that I try to bring into my work.

My path to becoming a Clinical Psychologist, much like many journeys in life, was not linear, and my work in community-based settings, sustainable development, and teaching, contributed and very much influenced my desire to work therapeutically and assist in uncovering the potential we all possess.

My willingness to explore has taken me across the globe and I have spent several years as an expat, living in London, Japan, and now Amsterdam. I understand not only the excitement and possibility of living as an expat, but also the difficulties of moving, settling, and feeling grounded in a new home. In addition, to my private practice in Amsterdam where I offer therapy in English and Afrikaans, I also offer online counseling through Stillpoint Spaces.
