Having practiced with people of all ages, I marvel at the complexity and depth of human experience, not only as individuals, but also in their social, cultural and historical dimensions. My focus is on helping people recognize and develop their grounding in an authentic self, as revealed, for example, in dreams or through experiences in relationships, present and past.
The need to establish a truer self can be signaled by anxiety, depression, or a general sense of disquiet or confusion, whether just internally or also in relationships. Especially with my background as a psychiatrist, I believe it is important not to reduce such feelings to mere illness or disease, but to search instead for the meaning they hold and the potential for change they may reveal.

A desire to expand the spiritual dimension of my work with clients has led to my current involvement as a psychoanalytic candidate at the International School for Analytical Psychology in Zurich, Switzerland.
In addition to clinical practice, teaching, and research, I have been involved in founding two hospitals and multiple clinics. As a consequence, I am perhaps more attuned than many therapists to the experiences of people working in high intensity situations.
