I place my clinical training in Jungian psychoanalysis within the wider framework of my studies in history, philosophy and psychoanalysis writ large. I find it important to be mindful of the socio-historical context within which individual lives are set. The sources of our individual suffering are often related to larger themes informing our lives. These might be societal, familial or both. Understanding our place in these narratives can be essential in recovering a better sense of purpose as well as a more independent sense of agency: our ability to take command of our lives. In the same vein, I find it relevant to also explore the ideas that underpin individual mind-frames. We often reach dead-ends because we are over-identified with ideas or values, which are prevalent in our environment. Over-adapted, we sometimes forgo the opportunity to imagine differently or to question.  Worse: we might even overlook who we are in our becoming.

I offer no prescriptions, but a space for honest dialog where we are both engaged with a stake at identifying roadblocks and at mobilising inner resources. This work often entails delving into the unconscious world of memory, fantasy and dreams. Importantly, I recognize the vital place in the process of the relationship that develops between two people sitting across each other in the consulting room.
