I consider my work a psycho-spiritual integration process. I work with both the conscious and the unconscious dimensions of the mind, using the insights of depth psychology, movement and other expressive arts. My approach is multi cultural and interdisciplinary and I attempt to bring together in theory and practice the interconnect of mind and body, individual and collective dynamics (familial, social, cultural, geographical) and philosophical and spiritual concerns.

I have grown up in India and lived in different parts of the country. I have always been involved in academics and the arts. I worked in India as a psychotherapist for the past 17 years, simultaneously being involved with expressive movement, experimental theatre and non formal film practices. Over the course of my professional life I have worked with individuals, couples, groups and communities. My work has involved negotiating the multicultural, linguistic, religious and socio-political diversity of India. It has been challenging and enriching dealing with both tradition and modernity, urban as well as rural contexts, secular and religious practices, gender issues, ethnic and class and caste distinctions. Indian pluralism challenged me to expand my consciousness of diversity, my perspectives, flexibility and to hold multiple, often contradictory realities together. India has helped me develop both a symbolic life, and an awareness and tolerance for complexity and difference, not merely in the world around me, but also within myself.
